Here are some photos of my new gown. Now to work on the sleeves. My poodle decided she wanted in on the pictures. Still need sleeves and accessories but I'm so happy the main construction is done!

    Venetian bodice complete!

Monday, February 25, 2008, 12:47 PM EST [Dress Diary]

I still have to add the grosgrain ribbon but the major construction of v2.0 is complete. I'm quite happy with the results, much in part due to your input. *hugglez!* Ended up with three layers: fashion fabric, cotton duck canvas and linen canvas.

    Onto cartridge pleating the skirt!

    Venetian bodice v2.0

Tuesday, February 19, 2008, 04:13 PM EST [Dress Diary]

Ah fudge it. The prior bodice had so many problems I just made a new one. Don't let the quiet smile fool you. See that small gap? That means I may have to cut into the bodice front a little more to make a V front since at this point it could close entirely in front. I thought 1" would be enough since the 2" was way too much (see below) but obviously it's not. I didn't take into account that the cotton duck canvas lining is actually thinner than the linen canvas lining. Also factor the larger armscrye which gave the front of the bodice more give to move towards the front. So before I sew up the side seams I have to resew the front opening back to a 2" gap. Click here for more gory details and entire post.
