    Pennsic 37

Monday, August 11, 2008, 04:19 PM EST [Pennsic]

Back from war. Oh excuse me, from peace. His Majesties declared this war to be a tourney because of an uneven match of soldiers. Nothing funnier than having hundreds of guys in full armor sing, "All we are sa-ying, is give war a chance!"

This year at Casa Bardicci was quiet and busy. We've moved from Bologna to Venice. Our campgrounds were full of "uncampable" ditches and a mini-stream. But being the crazies we are, we spanned the uncampable with the Great Hall and built windows so our visitors can marvel and wonder upon our new canals. As Dion put it, "Uncampable? Ha!"

I had great fun at our two parties, the Lowly and the Hoity. During the Hoity a bunch of Mexicans with sombreros invaded the party with a huge barrel of margarita liquor. After an hour or so one of them yelled, "La Migra!" and they all bolted out the front door. There they ran into the Christmas people (complete with Santa hats and a Xmas tree) so they all decided to sing a resounding chorus of "Feliz Navidad". Yes, I took the Xmas tree home with me.

Speaking of pirates, Seven Leaves decided to cordon off a corner of the bar during the Hoity. Once I donned my pirate hat I was given access to the V.I.P. (very important pirates) section were I sang shanty songs about a drunken Mouser.

Speaking of which, the Don decided to delay his one and only appearance for the Hoity party. He seemed thinner to me and also had a high pitched voice. I heard he went to visit France, maybe the French got him sick or something.

I got razzed because I couldn't read the word "amarillo" on the side of a huge yellow pick-up. I thought it said armadillo. The words "Was I supposed to be looking for the biscotti?" were uttered by Alaric while performing a grape-dive on my person with a stick of biscotti. Guess it's been a while since he's gone to a ren faire.

My nemesis 'Nico appeared in his dandy finest for the Hoity after he finished playing with matches. The Casa was set ablaze one night with orange and yellow construction paper flames. We put out the fire but small kitchen fires were found here and there during the rest of war. Our Casa security system (bunch of drunken women) was worthless to avoid the situation because the "moos, oinks, barks, baas and caws" were heard by no one.

I went to the A&S exhibit to view the lovely and droolable garb. I was utterly floored when several of these women complimented me on my dress. As most of you know I try my novice best when it comes to constructing garb. They like me. They really, really like me!

I'll add more later but for now I need to get back to mundania work. Here is the link to my photos and video to keep you entertained in the meantime.
